The shows I chose to watch are shows that children usually don't grow out of or are attracted to at a younger and older age.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The Simpsons, a classic comedy which draws the majority of us in with its realistic family and practical witt. The family goes through hardship,excitement, triumph and everyday experience that most families go through. 'Homer' the father of the family is employed by the power plant and is in constant battles to keep his job. 'Marge' the wife of the family is edgy or easily becomes paranoid, her main job is to be a stay at home mom, however she often goes out and tries to become more distinguished in society by working outside the home. She tries several times to get a job but often realizes she can't part with her family for those few hours a day. She is the basic prototype of every average American mother. 'Bart' the families son is a brat, of course being the boy of the family they make him out to be the trouble maker mainly because most families direct evidence of mischief to the boy because they are more curiouse or perhaps more unaware of the consequences whi ch come along with right and wrong actions but they may also simply not care. Bart vandalizes things, humiliates several members of the schools faculty, steals items from stores and dis-respects his parents. All this seems quit bad for a children show but Barts softer side does come around once in awhile, for every wrong thing he does it later shows his guilt and the punishments that come along with misbehaving. 'Lisa' the families most prevailed member of the family, is of a much higher intelligence then the rest of the family and is not blind of her families social class and immmature behaviour excluding Marge. Lisa, however still loves her family and even though they irritate and ignore or fail to notice her natural talent and integrity she knows this is who they are and she most except this.

War is defined a state of hostility conflict or antagonism. But this definition would be thrown aside by a man named Mohandas Gandhi a man who would soon come to revolutionize India through the power of peace. Gandhi’s protests and civil disobedience would soon help create the India we see today. Gandhi did take India back from the British but not violently as one might expect, but peacefully through civil disobedience. This means that laws that Gandhi and his followers would refuse to obey any laws that they viewed to be unjust, not by striking blows but by carrying on with there daily activities while refusing to follow certain laws that they feel practice a system of apartheid. But keeping in mind never to strike back but to always keep your head up and never give up. Gandhi developed this idea of civil disobedience after his experience of apartheid while in South Africa. Gandhi while in South Africa Gandhi witnessed first hand the great injustices people of color faced simply while walking down the street. For example the need for a pass book by those of color. Gandhi saw this injustice and interjected, holding a public protest burning passbooks and symbolically burning the separation between people of color in South Africa and the British. But Gandhi did not stop there he went on to take this system of civil disobedience to India. In India he continued to gain followers and slowly take back India through his peaceful movements such as his salt march and cloth burning. Finally over the course of his adult life Gandhi had taken back India from the British all without India striking a blow. Gandhi clearly revolutionized India into its current state through peace. Gandhi, through peace, has helped change the way we see war.

Happiness is a universal solution to a large amount of our problems, and is often overlooked for â€Å"more important things†. I believe this to be an incredibly detrimental problem to mine and future generations, as mood affects all the important aspects of human life. Time after time I’ve reflected on my decisions, attempting to evaluate whether a choice I made was the right one. From my experiences, there are generally two paths people can take. The first path values gains over happiness. An opportunity presents itself where a person can be asocial or benefit from money with an absence of fulfillment. One friend will ask if I want to take a relaxing stroll around the park, while another asks if I can move several heavy rocks for fifty dollars. In this mindset I would choose the latter, accumulating what many think is the most valuable thing to them: wealth. Doing this frequently results in an unhealthy lifestyle, and is absolutely not how our species is meant to live. A friend three years ago, for example, asked if I could go with him to the local pool. I went instead of making up a usual excuse, and happened to meet someone who changed my life in too many ways to count. Today I am smarter, more socially confident, optimistic, and happier because I met this person. At the time I could have stayed home learned interesting things on the History Channel. In retrospect, it would have been a cataclysmic mistake. That is the mistake that is hurting our society. Why do people continually make the mistake of sitting idle or pursuing money when true happiness is just around the corner? There are a lot of reasons. For one, it’s an easy choice to make because either money is involved or you don’t have to do anything. Second, very little can go wrong by choosing to sit out on an opportunity. Where our society goes wrong is the common mentality of valuing regularity and routine over exhilaration and excitement. Always staying inside a comfort zone can promote a boring or even unhappy life style. Unfortunately my generation and future generations may fall victim to mediocrity when there exists so much potential for happiness. While it’s okay to take the easier of the paths, only taking it eliminates risk as well as promise. Living by this idea has reaped me countless benefits, the biggest of which is a stress-free lifestyle complete with very little problems. Without stress, I’m able to positively influence those around me constantly and attempt to bring helpful advice. Imagine if every generation after mine found true happiness. How different this world would be.

To most of those people it has a meaning related to the overall appearance or feeling of what ever is being described. Webster's dictionary defines the term as: 1. magnificent and sumptuous. 2. distinguished or glorious. Splendor is more that that. It is an adjective that could be used to describe something so great and breath taking that one is left awed.The word splendid is often associated with the palace of Versailles, which was built Louis XIV. In the production of this grand structure there was no cost spared. It became a symbol of France, and a model by which all other palaces would be judged. Louis XIV received a great deal of criticism from onlookers as he used the French equivalent to millions of dollars to built this outstanding structure. There is still some speculation as to whether or not this was a good investment. It has been argued that the money could have gone to the poor or needy. The palace of Versailles was controversial, but in high insight, it is clear that Louis XIV made a sound decision in its erection. As Louis XIV took the throne, he was faced with several problems. He knew that he did not want to reside and rule in Paris, so against the will of his advisors he chose a hunting chateau as the site of his new palace. He also knew from history that the nobles of his domain had in the past and would continue to cause trouble in the form of uprisings and other conflicts. Louis XIV sought absolute power, and he knew that he would not be able to obtain this if preoccupied by civil conflicts. His solution to this problem was building Versailles and inviting all of the nobles to reside there. This was a brilliant scheme to keep the nobles out of the politics of the country. He preoccupied them with tasked normally associated with chamber maids, thus allowing him to rule as an absolute monarch. The splendor of the palace was a key factor in this plan because with out it, the nobles would not have a willing to leave their homes and move to Versailles. It tells of his life, his goals, his motives, and the means by which he achieved those goals. It is blatantly obvious that Louis XIV though a great monarch, cared little for the common people of his country. Regardless of this, it is almost a matter common knowledge that Louis XIV brought France to its peak in terms of its respect and social status in the world. During his reign France became the authority on all that was proper and elegant. All of this seems trivial, but the fact is, it was very important to the people of the upper class, and as always they were controlling the world. There were several qualities that Louis XIV possessed that were found undesirable by his common subjects. His tax system weighed most heavily on the lower class, and they were often called to fight in all sorts of different wars for the extension of the empire. It understandable that he was popular among these people, but their opinion was really not significant on the grand scheme of his plans for France. There is no question that Louis XIV took France to an entire new level in the world view. During his reign, the French empire grew vastly, and was greatly respected. To this day, he remains a French hero, and is widely viewed as the greatest monarch that ever lived. It is not because of his accomplishments that these views are held, but rather his ability to play the part of a great leader.
